Cafetiere Coffee Brew Guide
We like to brew our cafetiere in a similar way to cupping a coffee. We would suggest you try the method below also in order to experience the coffee in the best way, to get the full flavour of the beans.
What you'll need:
What you'll need:
- A cafetiere
- Beans or pre-ground coffee (ground for cafetiere - a sea salt consistency)
- Cupping spoons or a tablespoon
- Digital scales
- Kettle
How to brew:
How to brew:
1) Start with your coffee
Grab your coffee and weigh out what you need (we work with 60 grams per litre of water). Our cafetiere is 500ml so we use 30 grams of coffee.
2) Get the kettle on the boil.
Once the kettle has boiled, leave it to cool for 30 seconds to reduce the temperature slightly.
3) Add the ground coffee to the cafetiere.
If you have beans you'll need to grind them to a 'sea salt' consistency after weighing.
4) Add your water to the coffee
Make sure you get all the coffee wet when pouring over.
5) Leave it for 4 minutes to brew.
Get a load of that yum coffee smell!
6) Push the crust
Grab your cupping spoon or tablespoon and push the coffee crust that has gathered on top downwards.
7) Remove the foam
After pushing the coffee crust down, remove any of the excess foam off the top of the cafetiere with your spoon.
8) Plunge to halfway
Plunging your cafetière halfway keeps your coffee smooth and helps reduce the bits at the bottom of your cup. It also slows the extraction slightly, giving you a more balanced brew.
